In addition to providing the founding gift for Krannert Art Museum, Ellnora D. Krannert and Herman Krannert donated many artworks, including this painting, to this institution recognized for both its collections and its activities that invite the public to learn more about other cultures and the creative process. This work by François Boucher is a model for a section of a large tapestry.

Since 2007 Krannert Center has celebrated the global sounds of the six-stringed instrument and its relatives with dozens of free performances by renowned and upcoming jazz, classical, bluegrass, rock, country, soul, folk, experimental, blues, rockabilly, Latin, and fusion—and just about any other style plus the indescribable—musicians.

Professor Emeritus Shozo Sato is a master of traditional Japanese arts including ikebana (flower arranging) and shodo (calligraphy), which he teaches to community members and students through classes at Japan House.

Lit red in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic for We Make Events, Krannert Center signaled its vital spot in the community and sounded the alarm for the ongoing support needed for performing artists, students in arts programs, designers, technicians, ticketing personnel, stagehands, agents, skilled trade workers, housekeeping staff, marketing professionals, and the many others who put on live events.

The College of Fine and Applied Arts recognized a unique opportunity to draw on the expertise from across the college to create a new degree program: the Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Design. Incorporating the disciplines of design, architecture, landscape architecture, and urban and regional planning, this undergraduate major will focus on the places, things, systems, and policies needed to help solve problems in a sustainable society.
