April 16 Uncorked and On Topic Focuses on Public Space

Monday, March 30, 2015

For its final installment of the semester, Uncorked and On Topic will address public space: how can it be designed so that people are invited to use it? In what ways can common areas change how we relate to one another? Sara Bartumeus Ferré, an associate professor in the School of Architecture, and Mike Ross, the director of Krannert Center, will engage in a conversation moderated by Areli Marina from the School of Art and Design about visionary approaches to these shared spaces. In addition to her work at Illinois, Bartumeus Ferré is a principal of the firm Renau Bartumeus Arquitectes in Barcelona, where she concentrates on social housing, public space, facilities, and exhibitions. Ross earned the North American Performing Arts Agent and Managers Association's Award for Excellence in Presenting the Arts and is a founding member of 40 North. An informal intellectual exchange about the arts, Uncorked and On Topic will be held at 5:15 p.m. on April 16 in the Tryon Festival Theatre Foyer at Krannert Center.
