Uncorked and On Topic Examines Mastery on March 3
Patrick Earl Hammie of the School of Art and Design and Endalyn Taylor of Dance at Illinois will address the concept of mastery at the March edition of Uncorked and On Topic. Best known for large-scale portraits, Hammie focuses in his work on challenging visual traditions, depictions of contemporary masculinity, questions of identity, and representations of race. Taylor is a Tony Award winner and the former director of the Dance Theatre of Harlem School who uses performance and choreography to address social issues and conducts research on African American ballerinas. During this discussion moderated by Laurie Hogin of the School of Art and Design, the pair will explore traditions, skill, and what effects the choices of medium, form, and venue have on responses to a work of art. Held in conjunction with Krannert Center's Uncorked wine tasting, this event will begin at 5:15 p.m. in the Tryon Festival Theatre Foyer on March 3.
