Event Description
Dr. Shanita Bigelow will discuss current research and methodological processes as bound to identity, theory, and a sense of purpose. Providing a glimpse into her research and writing processes, Dr. Bigelow will concretely explore research as process. She will forward thoughts about the everyday silences, the everyday negative space(s) we carry, bump into, witness, etc. and how they may be exercised or used toward/in arts educational aims. Dr. Bigelow will share processes underway in current research, which focuses on the identities of teaching artists, how those identities intersect with their hopes for art education, their work (pedagogy and teaching practices), and their visions for the wider world of education and beyond.
