Share a little about why you chose the U of I College of Fine & Applied Arts for your graduate degree.
When I began my academic journey as an undergrad student, the University of Illinois felt like home. I felt embraced, with many great opportunities to explore my interests and support from the communities, which gave me the courage to go beyond my limits.
What has been a highlight of your grad school experience so far?
I have had the chance to take many courses across campus related to my research interests and have fruitful and inspiring conversations with faculty members and colleagues.

Share a little about a special project you have worked on.
As a PhD student, I am presenting at the CELA conference, which is an international conference, for the first time this spring. My work focuses on carbon sequestration, a topic rarely addressed in the fields of design and planning.
How do you hope your graduate degree will impact your career?
I think my doctoral degree and the research field of carbon sequestration and emission will significantly help to contribute to the current environmental crisis and support sustainable growth.
What is your favorite space on campus and why?
My favorite place is the Great Lawn on the south quad, where I can enjoy the sun and have my lunch.
What advice would you give students interested in attending your grad program?
Be passionate about your field of study, remain patient as great results take time, and be willing to engage with others for inspiration.
