Sinfonia da Camera to Present Immersive Concert at Staerkel Planetarium
Sinfonia da Camera, the resident chamber orchestra at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, will perform a special program inside the dome of Staerkel Planetarium at Parkland College on Sept. 20 as part of the PYGMALION 2025 festival.
The concert will feature an intimate 18-member chamber ensemble under the direction of music director Ian Hobson, with a program inspired by the cosmos and global creation stories. Highlights include Darius Milhaud’s La Création du Monde, the world premiere of Orbital by School of Music professor Stephen Taylor, and visual projections designed by College of Fine and Applied Arts Dean Jacob Pinholster.
This one-of-a-kind event brings together music, art, and science for an immersive experience unlike any other.
