Architecture Students Win Awards
Sponsored by the Chicago Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the Chicago Award in Architecture competition provides recognition to students and cash prizes for exceptional design projects. Wanwan Shao, Widya Ramadhani, and Yuxuan Wang placed second for Noida Medical Center: Hospital That Responds to the Living Pattern of India, which focuses on the local community's amenities and ambience so that the hospital setting better reflects people's homes.
Earning third prize was Liyuan Ge for Purimemorials, which commemorates the dead and wounded from explosions at a container storage facility in Tianjin, China.
An honorable mention was given to Rakan Ayyoub, Brian Cruse, and John Harmon for 320 East North Water Street: Vertical City in Chicago's Streeterville District., an energy-efficient residential structure.
