Erin Corine Johnson
Erin Corine Johnson is a multi-genre flutist, a bilingual vocalist, an educator, and a cultural diversity advocate based in Barcelona, Spain. Her social project, Project Afro(–), and its accompanying music and arts network, The Black Music Exchange, is dedicated to facilitating cultural exchange and authentic native instruction and, ultimately, to building new artistic bridges between Spain and North and South America.
Johnson writes, “I came to Illinois 1000% certain I would dedicate the rest of my life to music. What I found in those four years, however, was so much more profound than that. I found my reason. I found my voice, support and community, excitement, and lifelong friendship. Those four of the best and most formative years of my life gave me the strength and perseverance to pursue even bigger opportunities, some that I never could have imagined.”
As an interdisciplinary performing artist, certified coach and versatile creative consultant, Erin has 8+ years of experience innovating dynamic educational workshops and community-based initiatives in the arts, leadership, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. With over 15 years of customer care and retail management experience in addition to a rigorous artistic background, Erin continuously blends a passion for service, cross-cultural communication and community building with creative entrepreneurship to create interdisciplinary projects with nuanced perspectives across Europe and the Americas.
