Chip Davis–Mannheim Steamroller Orchestra Award

Requirement: Member of the UI Symphony Orchestra

Carolyn Joyce Mitchell Davy Music Scholarship

Requirements: Champaign County resident; graduate of a Champaign County high school; GPA 3.5/4

Guy M. Duker Award

Requirement: Graduating music education student (instrumental emphasis with band), music student, or senior participating in a symphonic band

Elizabeth Meier Frauenhoffer Memorial Award in Music

Requirements: Graduating senior in voice; high academic achievement

Robert E. Gray Trombone Award

Requirement: Trombone student

A. A. Harding Award

Requirement: Student participating in the Bands program

Eve Harwood Music Education Award

Requirement: Music education major

Sara de Mundo Lo Opera Award

Requirement: Outstanding performance and potential in vocal music with emphasis on operatic roles

Pauline V. and Ralph C. Morgan Memorial Music Award

Requirement: Piano or string student

Thomas H. Schleis Memorial Scholarship

Requirements: Opera, voice, or accompanying student; 3.0 or higher GPA

Warren H. Schuetz Memorial Award

Requirement: Choral conducting or music education student

Robert Earl Thomas Award in Music Education

Requirements: Junior music education student; strong GPA; active participant in campus life and activities

Edgard Varese Percussion Award

Requirement: Percussion student

Lex and Sheila Young Music Education Award

Requirement: Music education student

Theatre

Selection criteria stipulated by the donors are used in awarding scholarships. If no criteria have been specified, the departmental advisory committee judges students on the basis of (1) their academic record; (2) their talent in, and commitment to, theatrical production through participation in Department of Theatre productions and/or auditions and portfolio reviews; (3) their potential for growth; and (4) financial need.

John H. Butterfield Scholarship

Requirements: Deserving student determined by merit and/or need; must be enrolled in courses in drama and theatre, exhibit significant talent in these fields, and agree to remain in and graduate from FAA

Amount: $2,000 to be distributed among several recipients

Michael Filerman Scholarship

Requirements: The recipient should be talented, exhibit a love for the theatre, and be dedicated to promoting the theatre arts. It is the donor’s preference that all recipients have a critical need: but for the assistance provided by the fund, the student might not be able to continue his or her education.

Amount: $3,000 to be distributed among several recipients

Bernard F. Gold Scholarship

Requirement: Academic merit

Amount: $12,000 per year to be distributed among several recipients

Calvin Hugy Scholarship

Requirement: Deserving student

Amount: About $8,000 to be distributed among several recipients

Alberta L. Humble Scholarship

Requirement: None

Amount: About $6,000 to be distributed among several recipients

David and Wendy Knight Scholarship

Requirement: Deserving student

Amount: About $600 to be distributed among several recipients

Wilbur B. Menefee Scholarship

Requirement: Preference given to students pursuing scenic design

Amount: About $38,000 to be distributed among several recipients

Lloyd and Edna Morey Scholarship

Requirements: Students in need of financial assistance and of good character, integrity, and industry; selection made on a competitive basis. Three-fourths of the fund will be used as a scholarship for a student of superior ability in dramatic work; one-fourth will be used for prizes for superior work in the field.

Amount: $2,000 to be distributed among several recipients

Samuel L. Stickler Faculty Players Award

Requirements: Graduating senior; selection based on outstanding achievement in both academics and theatrical production

Amount: Two annual awards of equal amount, typically $500 per recipient

R. B. Ulrich Scholarship

Requirement: Deserving student

Amount: About $1,200 to be distributed among several recipients

West Coast Theatre Scholarship

Requirement: None

Amount: $400 to be distributed among several recipients
