The Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA) has announced its 2025-26 cohort of fellows for its Academic Leadership Program and Department Executive Officers Seminar. The programs are designed to cultivate leadership skills tailored to the complex demands of large research universities.
At the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, ten faculty members were selected to serve as fellows. Among them is Jorge Lucero, who has been honored with a fellowship in the Academic Leadership Program.
Jorge Lucero is the Anthony J. Petullo Professor of Art Education in the School of Art and Design and also serves as the senior associate dean for faculty affairs in the College of Fine and Applied Arts. Previously, he served as chair of the Art Education Program for eight years. He has performed, published, lectured, exhibited and taught widely in the U.S. and abroad. In 2023, he was named the National Art Education Association’s Higher Ed Educator of the Year.
