Dance professor Cynthia Oliver has been named special advisor to the chancellor for arts integration at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Her goals are to support collaborations between artists and researchers in disciplines across campus and to integrate arts research and creative practice throughout the university.
“I would like to make creative practice a part of the systemic ecology of the campus,” she said. “Arts are not decoration. They are deeply investigative, sophisticated practices. I want that to be recognized, acknowledged and engaged with.”
