October is National Arts and Humanities Month, a celebration that recognizes the vital role the arts and humanities play in enriching our lives and communities. This month, we’re excited to highlight the exceptional work of our faculty, whose creativity, research, and dedication inspire students and elevate the cultural landscape. Through a series of features, we’ll showcase their diverse contributions and explore how their passions not only enhance our college but also nurture deeper understanding and appreciation of the world around us. Today we celebrate Serouj Aprahamian, professor in the Department of Dance!

Two professors from the College of Fine and Applied Arts, D. Fairchild Ruggles (Landscape Architecture) and Cynthia Oliver (Dance), have been named endowed chairs or professors. They are two of nine new endowed professorships on the U of I campus.

The College of Fine and Applied Arts is home to over 600 graduate students pursuing master and doctoral degrees in the arts. We are honored to have them here learning, teaching, researching, AND building, dancing, and making among us. Happy Graduate Student Appreciation Week!
