More Involvement Opportunities
FAA Student Advisory Board
Students who are passionate about shaping the college experience for their FAA peers will have an opportunity to meet with the dean and staff in the FAA Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs to discuss their ideas and feedback on FAA programs, policies, and initiatives. Students are required to attend at least two meetings each fall and spring semester on select Fridays from 12 to 1 p.m. Applications are available during August of each year for board membership during the next academic year. Contact faa-uaa@illinois.edu for more information.
FAA 101 Discussion Leaders
Undergraduate peer mentors guide first‑year students through weekly small‑group discussions in FAA 101: Arts at Illinois, a one‑credit course. Leaders help new students navigate campus, connect with resources, and build community during their first semester. Selection is coordinated through the FAA Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs each spring semester. Contact faa-uaa@illinois.edu for more information.
FAA Ambassadors
The FAA Ambassadors program was founded to cultivate public relations and leadership skills in current students, while offering a unique perspective about the college to prospective students, alumni, and donors. This diverse group of enthusiastic, dynamic individuals promote the college by interacting with prospective students, assisting with recruitment and marketing invitations, and serving as hosts for prospective students, alumni, donors, and their families at campus events. Contact Brenda Williams (wllmscn2@illinois.edu) for more information.
FAA Summer Intensive Counselors
The FAA Summer Intensive is a one-week, in-residence summer camp for high school students interested in the visual and performing arts. Counselors are high-energy, responsible current students who live in the residence halls with attendees in a leadership capacity, gain valuable work experience, and earn money. Counselors also share their perspectives on being a part of FAA and positively promote the university. Contact Brenda Williams (wllmscn2@illinois.edu) for more information.
FAA Student Philanthropy Board
The FAA Student Philanthropy Board is for students who are passionate about making a lasting impact on the College of Fine and Applied Arts. Members work alongside the FAA Advancement team to plan events, build connections with alumni and donors, and inspire a culture of philanthropy among current students. Through hands-on experience, students develop leadership, communication, and professional skills while helping strengthen the future of FAA. Applications are available each fall. Contact the FAA Advancement Office (faa-advancement@illinois.edu) for more information.
